Do you know how to safely remove your disposable gloves? A task that seems so simple, but it really isn’t. For most individuals who do not wear disposable gloves daily and wish to protect themselves during this time of crisis (COVID-19), it is crucial to know and use good glove removal practices to avoid contamination.

Here is how to safely remove disposable gloves in a few easy steps:

  1. Pinch and hold the outside of the glove close to the wrist with your thumb and index finger.

  2. Remove the glove from the hand, pulling it away from the wrist and turn it inside out.

  3. Create a ball with the removed glove and hold it with the gloved hand.

  4. With the ungloved hand, slide your finger under the remaining glove, taking care not to touch the outside of the glove.

  5. Again, remove the glove from the hand, taking it away from the wrist and turn it inside out.

  6. Turn the second glove away from your body, leaving the first glove in a ball inside the second one.

  7. Dispose of the gloves securely. Do not reuse them.

  8. Wash your hands with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds.
